The partnership effort includes the Salish Kootenai College (SKC) business, education, allied health, natural resources, and trades departments, as well as local businesses, SKC Upward Bound, Polson and Ronan Middle and High Schools, and the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) Tribal Health and Natural Resources Departments. Population Served: The Pathways to College and Careers Project will serve approximately 500, 8th–12th grade NA students in two public school districts on the Flathead Indian Reservation. To achieve this, the Pathways to College and Careers program will 1) Increase the number of college/career ready partnerships 2) Provide NA students with opportunities to engage in preparatory teacher training and other career work-based learning activities 3) Increase understanding (for both students and their families) of factors and resources related to college and career readiness and 4) Increase student awareness of college and career readiness indicators. Objective: The overall program goal is to increase the number/percentage of Native American (NA) high school students from the target local education agencies (LEAs) who are well-prepared to enter college and/or careers and meet stated benchmarks for college and career readiness.
